  • Effectiveness of white noise on sleep Tuesday, April 1, 2025

    Mathias Basner, M.D., Ph.D., suggests that there is a lack of evidence that supports the use of white noise machines (or apps) for facilitating sleep. It may instead disrupt sleep, and more studies are needed to evaluate the effects of different noise frequencies on sleep. Reported in the Mirror.

    In a recent article, Nadim El Jamal, Thomas Brooks, Carsten Skarke, and Garrett Fitzgerald report that any sleep disorder is associated with increased risk of aortic stenosis (heart valve failure) which was partially explained by dyslipidemia.
